| Our suggestions about trips to do 1) Amalfi: Cathedral of Saint Andrea; Museum of Marittime Republics; Valle delle Ferriere with the water fall, where you can enter the museum of hand-made paper and from where one of the Path of Gods starts. You can do one day excursion, going to Ravello as well: Ravello is similar to Positano but up the hill. It has two wonderful villas with gardens where you can enjoy summer concerts on terraces overlooking the coast. 2) Sorrento is nice for shopping in the smaller inner streets where you can still find inlaid wood and hand-made embroideries. From Sorrento you can take the train to Pompei ruins (Pompei Scavi / Villa dei Misteri train stop), which is only half-an-hour either from Naples or Sorrento. 3) Boat trip to the Island of Li Galli, part of the natural protected marine reserve of "Punta Campanella", which belonged to the Russian choreographers and ballet dancers Leonide Massine first and to Rudolf Nureyev later .He had he idea of building a study centre for ballet and of organizing summer seminars for dancers who wanted to keep in shape during the holidays. The Greeks had been so fascinated by it to imagine that in these seas lived the Sirens. According to Homer’s tradition, the three isles are nothing but the Sirens precipitated in the sea for Ulysses’ refusal of visiting them. 4) Trekking on the Path of Gods: several different excursions along the mountains over Positano, Amalfi, Agerola from where you will catch heavenly sceneries. 5) Montepertuso-Nocelle: the very top areas of Positano (800 meters over the sea level)No matter how old you are, if you are in perfect health, whether keen on hiking or not, the Path of Gods, set in breathtaking natural beauty, is a must for anybody wants to deeply explore the marvels of the Amalfi Coast. . |
